"Stunning and mind-blowing...
I'm so grateful to you for letting me see Metanoia. You have
delivered on the promise in your title of providing a new
vision of Nature."

"This DVD is one of the
most fascinating, amazing, wonderful, stirring and touching
films I have seen in a very long time. Thank you so much for
making it - it's so professionally made and the beautiful
music adds even more depth to it. Thank you. simply Thank
you. The world does more than need it, even if it seems unlikely
mankind will ever wake up from its deep deep sleep."

"I would like to contact
Mr. Simon G. Powell with regards to the deep message woven
in to his topics of evolutionary discussion. I feel his revolutionary
idea of "natural intelligence" is profound and so significant
that it should be shared with every living human on the planet
to complete our universal understanding as a whole."

Written and directed by author/musician Simon
G. Powell, Metanoia: A New Vision of Nature is the
world's first DVD film to delineate the paradigm of natural
intelligence. And it does so accompanied by an original upbeat
soundtrack - making this film an enticing blend of art and
science.
The conventional view that Nature is dumb
and mindless is no longer tenable. The 90 minute Metanoia
DVD shows us that Nature is better understood as a system
of self-organising intelligence. Currently
however, both science and religion (in all its forms) steadfastly
deny the existence of natural intelligence. Unlike artificial
intelligence, natural intelligence is totally unheard of.
Until now....

Reappraising the process of evolution is central
to Metanoia....

Everyone is familiar
with the Darwinian catch phrase "the survival of the
fittest". But what if we coined a new and better catch
phrase about evolution? One that highlighted what evolution
was really about. A catch phrase like:
The Survival of That Which
Makes Sense
|
Some good examples of natural intelligence
are given (from a virtually endless source) showing how evolution
has fostered eminently sensible biological and behavioural
outcomes. All organisms represent sensibly behaving and sensibly
functioning systems of biology. That which makes sense is
that which survives. Genetic changes that make sense are the
ones selected by Nature. Ergo - evolution is not a blind walk
in the dark but rather a smart sense-making process.
Powell goes on to show that all of this evolutionary
sense-making is only possible because the Universe itself
is sensible. The Universe, in terms of its laws, provides
the sensibleness that evolution feeds upon, learns about,
and reflects. And the only reason the Universe is sensible
is because it is intelligently configured....
|

With all the time, energy and resources in
the world, Nature ultimately assembles conscious entities
capable of making sense of how, and whence, they originated.
Perhaps this process of making sense is what, at heart, the
Universe is all about.....
But who really cares about all this? Who really
cares if Nature is a system of self-organising intelligence?
Estranged from Nature, we humans are primarily occupied with
consuming and dismantling the living biosphere, content with
our technological gadgets and our apparent mastery of life.
We esteem the capabilities of human intelligence but ignore
the natural intelligence that underlies our very existence.
And yet 'the survival of that which makes sense' must also
apply to us, to our own global behaviour. If human culture
fails to make sense within the context of the rest of the
biosphere then human life as we know it will not persist (in
the long-term, only 'that which makes sense' survives). And
yet it is still "business as usual in a surreal atmosphere
of contradiction and confusion" that drives human culture.
Something has to change.....

Leaving behind the hypnotic
spell of city life, we spend some valuable time in some unsullied
wilderness and mull over the various implications (both practical
and metaphysical) of the natural intelligence paradigm....
